My painting is rooted in perception and gesture.
I need to feel the branch crack, the wind in the leaves, water trickling, the roughness of ceramics, the softness of moss, the dust and scent of wood in a workshop, the soul and thoughts of a model through their eyes or expression—before even seeking likeness.
To understand and feel things in order to translate them, and then tame them on paper.
