Baubeau Gilbert

My pastels are created from personal pictures or from life drawings. I use Pastelmat paper. After a detailed sketch, I work on the backgrounds with flat tones to achieve an overall impression. Then I reach the desired values through successive glazing with different tonalities. No blending or fixative is used. I work with various brands of pastel sticks and pencils for the details. The underlayer is done with dry or hard pastels, and the final touches are applied with soft pastels to highlight the lights. Very connected to nature, trees symbolize my poetry. My painting offers the viewer the freedom to be carried away by dreams, far beyond appearances…
