I have been deeply attached to the Morbihan coast of the Vilaine River all the way to the Rhuys Peninsula since my earliest childhood. In fact, I have made my home there. This Breton coastline inspires me immensely with its variety of shapes, colors, atmospheres, tranquility, and—at times—its wildness.

During my first participation in the “Colors of Brittany” contest ” competition, I met the pastel artist José Daoudal, who instilled in me a love for and joy in painting “on site” outdoors—and above all, taught me that one shouldn’t simply reproduce what one sees graphically, but rather capture the atmosphere of the place and convey one’s own feelings through the painting.

Another advantage of painting outdoors: encounters with passersby, who often offer explanations, comments, and sometimes criticism, as well as guidance—in short, a chance for interaction.
