Henkes Barbara

Barbara received diverse training from a variety of painters: pastel masters Gail Sibley, Isabelle Lim, and Stephanie Birdsall, as well as oil painters Christophe Wehrung, Nicolas Uribe, Denis Sarazhin, Catherine Kehou, and Felicia Forte.

She works primarily from life, telling small stories of people and objects in pastel and oil through form and color. By working from life, a meaningful connection is created between the painter and the subject, giving rise to a story that is intuited rather than explicitly told.
