Baubeau

I work from my personal pictures, interpreting them to keep only necessary elements to convey the emotion I wish to communicate. I seek the memory of time, left like a signature before everything fades away. Old doors, ancient stones, tree bark… are my favorite subjects. I paint on Pastelmat paper. I begin with a brief sketch to lay out the large shapes, then work on the backgrounds with light flat tones. Next, I refine each part to bring it to the desired level of finish. I use pastel pencils to highlight the details. In the end, I enhance the lights and accentuate the contrasts, then balance the entire composition. No blending or fixative.
