I am a painter of contemporary landscapes that often blur the distinctions between realism and abstraction, encouraging the viewer to move beyond the literal with me. I often use a close focus on water, rocks, and foliage, including reflections and shadows, often without a horizon for reference. My aim is to encourage a range of interpretations, free associations and personal responses. The driving force behind my work is to find and amplify the beauty and mystery that exists quietly all around us, both hidden and obvious. I seek ways to present humble scenes that touch the heart and offer wordless understanding.
