I seek to capture the essence or the soul of the subject; an evocative sense of the person or object. Like a memory that awakens.

My practice is rooted in academic drawing. The technique is much more sensory and organic. Color and marks are used to evoke mood. Tonal harmony is essential for the shapes to gradually emerge from their environment in a soft and subtle way.

The process involves long periods of reflection and reworking, with just enough detail to allow the subject to breathe.
